Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of LGBTQI Life, the Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing programs that support LGBTQI students and provide co-curricular education for the larger campus about issues of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.
Minimum Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 months of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills
- Master's degree in student affairs or higher education.
- Expertise in working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex college/university students.
- Experience working in student affairs, intercultural education, sexuality education, and/or social justice education a plus.
- A firm commitment to ethnic diversity and cultural pluralism is essential.
Key Functions and Expected Performances
- Work with university and community constituents to design, coordinate, and deliver campus-wide events related to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression for students, faculty, and staff.
- Partner closely with departments within the Office of the Dean of Students and other University departments on programming and services.
- Serve as a resource consultant for students, faculty, and staff and make appropriate referrals.
- Advise student organizations regarding organization and programming ideas.
- Author educational and training materials.
- Plan and schedule work priorities in accordance with program/project goals, objectives, and deadlines.
- Conduct research, compile and analyze information in support of program/project activities.
- Monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditures of budgeted program accounts
- Assist with the development and implementation of marketing and public relations plans and strategies
- Maintain program reports and statistics.
- Represent LGBTQI Life and the Office of the Dean of Students on University committees.
- Represent LGBTQI Life, The Office of the Dean of Students, and the University on community and national committees and boards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time position.
- Shift hours and days may vary; generally Monday through Friday, though weekend and evening work hours are required periodically.
- Salary ranges from $28,475-$35,000 annually; dependent upon years of education and experience.
- Background screens will be performed and education will be verified prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information and/or documentation.
- Experience may be substituted for education: basic qualification requirement on a 2:1 basis (2 years of experience for each year of education required, but not attained)
