The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center was opened at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (UWM) in the spring of 2001. The mission of the LGBT Resource Center at UWM is to connect with various student populations and the community at large by:

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Student Services Specialist/Program Coordinator is the primary professional staff member responsible for coordinating student outreach, advising students and developing events as well as programs for the LGBT Resource Center. Duties include: assessing student needs and developing programs and services regarding sexual orientation and gender identity; making recommendations on policies and procedures; assisting with grant writing and securing programming funds; advising students; providing students with personal support, information and referral services; and promoting the Resource Center's events and activities to all campus units and the community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree by the time of hire. Three years (paid professional or volunteer) experience working with young adults around sexual orientation and gender identity issues in varied racial, ethnic and cultural contexts. Duties:

Also provide administrative support and leadership for programs such as Safe Space and Rainbow Chats.
* Provide quality marketing for programs and services offered through the LGBT Resource Center. Ensure that appropriate media outlets are utilized to reach intended audiences.
* Oversee the maintenance of the LGBTRC Resource library.
* Coordinate the LGBTRC Advisory Board and Advisory Board committees. Design and distribute various publications to keep LGBT students, as well as others, aware of programs/issues related to sexual orientation/gender identity on campus. This will include overseeing the creation of the LGBTRC e-newsletter and maintenance of the LGBTRC webpage.
* Facilitate collaborative partnerships with a variety of campus departments, including Counseling and Psychiatric Services, University Housing, Office of Institutional Diversity and other organizations/departments, in order to facilitate the implementation of needed programs and services. Continuously seek alternative funding sources for the LGBTRC. Work in conjunction with the Vice President for Student Affairs Director of Development to enhance relationships with donors and alumni.
* Actively engage in service to the University community through participating in various committees, and developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with colleagues.

The Associate Director of Diversity Services will coordinate educational programming and support services for LGBT and AHANA populations at Suffolk University. Identify gaps in services as they relate to LGBT students and, if necessary, work with programs and departments on campus to encourage the development of programs designed to address the identified gaps. Respond to requests for speakers, panels, and resources on issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. Additional Diversity Consultation and Support Services

Assist in the development and collection of resources and referral sources for other diversity-related issues.

Student Organization Support
Serve as a Program Advisor to several student organizations. Management Responsibility Supervise one graduate student employee. Oversee the training and development programs for student employees. Recruit, train, promote and coordinate opportunities for student volunteers.

General Departmental Duties
Along with the Director, provide frontline support and referral services for all students who contact the office for assistance. Manage the department's website content. Coordinate the department's marketing efforts. Represent the university on several organizations or committees outside of the university. Represent the department on various university committees and working groups as assigned, including the President's Commission on the Status of LGBT Faculty, Staff, and Students. Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
The Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic planning and effective management of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Services Department for a campus of 16,000 students. San Jose State University has an opening for an Assistant Director, GLBT and Women’s Resource Centers.

About the Position:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Campus Life, the Assistant Director of Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender (GLBT) and Women’s Resource Centers will provide programs and services that address gender and GLBT issues and promote success, advocacy, equity and safety. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in developing and sustaining an environment conducive to the professional, intellectual and personal success of students identifying with these two communities. The Assistant Director will also serve as a resource to all staff and students interested in learning more about these two communities through outreach and training.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Oversight of the Centers’ operations to include day-to-day administration and coordination
* Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive programs and services that offer education, advocacy, support, mentorship and safety for women, GLBT, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning and allied members of the campus community.
* Develop and implement outreach initiatives;
* Participate in campus and community diversity and gender-equity initiatives
* Identify and assess achievement of learning outcomes
* Responsible for hiring, provide training/mentoring, and evaluating the performance of graduate and undergraduate student staff
* Develop and administer an annual budget

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be creative, a self-starter, a motivated individual, and a problem solver. The ideal candidate will have the ability to build relationships and trust with the students, the campus community, and the community at-large while working to build two programs from infancy into a stable operation.

We require a bachelor’s degree in a related field. A master’s degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education Administration or a related field is preferred and may be substituted for one year of professional experience. We require four years of full-time professional experience in student programming (preferably in programs for underrepresented populations), counseling or a related field which includes at least two years administration experience, including knowledge of budget and personal supervision. Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills.

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Provost and Dean of Students, the director manages a department that serves the University community at all levels - students, faculty and staff but in particular will support and advocate on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people within the Vanderbilt community. The director represents Vanderbilt externally and within the university community.

Successful candidates will possess the following desired qualifications:
Ability to create/conduct presentations, effective public speaker and excellent writing skills; a strong background in local community leadership, education and advocacy; fund-raising and management experience, and a demonstrated commitment to the civil rights of LGBT people; experience and demonstrated leadership in student services and activities, as well as in developing and overseeing policy implementation; ability to work with diverse groups, faith based groups, GLBT allies, and other campus organizations as well as experience in developing educational programs for all constituents within the University community; experience in writing grants.

Position Requirements
Master's degree in student personnel, higher education administration, psychology, or a related field and a minimum of five years of experience in student affairs or a related field required. Ph.D. preferred. A firm commitment to multiculturalism is required.
